BUSINESS DESCRIPTION & VISION
Anna’s Dog Shelter is a city shelter aiming at helping, adopting and providing essential medical services and a temporarily home for needy dogs in Syria. The shelter’s main role is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the dog population. Mission Statement: A Dog shelter and adoption center seeking to promote humane animal treatment through a sustainable animal population initiative composed of providing essential medical services, adoption goals and community outreach programs. Vision Statement: Five years from now Anna’s Dog Shelter will have a successful & sustainable local dog aid operation through successful spay/neuter programs, adoption, foster home, education and community involvement programs. Ten years from now Anna’s Animal Shelter will have successful fundraising and community outreach programs increasing, community awareness of the animal population and its needs in Syria. The shelter will be financially self sufficient through the community outreach and fundraising programs. Company Ownership/Legal Entity: Anna Johansson will own and operate the shelter using fundraiser funds and donations. The shelter is to be run through a joint effort of shelter employees, veterinarians, and volunteers. The shelter will receive dogs, checking them for illness and adoptability.

LOCATION The shelter must be located in a visible city near location in Latakia or Damascus, easily accessible to the community with ample space for current needs. A main component in location is ample outdoor space for the dogs to exercise with a potential for interaction with the community. A large enough site should be chosen to allow for expansion of the shelter in the future, if needed. Signage is crucial in increasing community awareness of the shelter; if the only viable location is not visible to the surrounding community, signage should be used to inform them of the new location. SHELTER BUILDING An inviting, clean shelter building that is visible to the public is necessary to not only continue operating but to increase adoptions. A new animal shelter building should be designed to house a minimum of 20 dogs to start (see Financial Management section). The new shelter building should include: Lobby/Reception Room Isolation Room (5 Cells) Standard Room (16 Cells) Examination Room Kitchen Storage Utilities Restrooms Pet Shop

FINANCIALS Ongoing Expenses Assumptions: Land Lease Expenses:
Anna’s Dog Shelter will have a capacity of 20 Dogs to start with. The average cost of basic food, supplies and medical care for a dog is estimated at $50/month. Miscellaneous expenses include veterinarian services, cleaning, other contractual services, electric, water, natural gas, internet & phone, trash, electricity generator, transportation, car & property insurance, landfill fees, and other property services, are estimated at $ 500/month. Land Lease Expenses: Anna’s Dog Shelter will require space for the shelter building and an outdoor space for dog living & training. Required area estimated at 1000 sqm can be leased at an average rate of $1000 per year. Construction Expenses: Anna’s Shelter building area is estimated at 200 sqm. Every sqm (Core & Shell) costs an estimated $50 to build, totaling $10,000 for the whole building. Fit out expenses are estimated at $25/sqm, totaling $ 5,000. Cage building expenses (20 cells) are estimated at $25 per unit, totaling $ 500. Pick Up Truck is required for shelter operation. Estimated cost is $15,000.
