2. Jas 2:14-18  What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?  15  If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,  16  and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?  17  Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.  18  But someone may well say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works."

3. 1) mildness of disposition, gentleness of spirit, meekness
Cognate: 4240 praýtēs (compare /praótēs, another feminine noun which is also derived from the root pra-, emphasizing the divine origin of the meekness) – meekness ("gentle strength") which expresses power with reserve and gentleness. See (praotes).

For the believer, meekness (4240 /praýtēs, "gentle-force") begins with the Lord's inspiration and finishes by His direction and empowerment. It is a divinely-balanced virtue that can only operate through faith (cf. 1 Tim 6:11; 2 Tim 2:22-25)

Cognate: 1932 epieíkeia (from /epí, "on, fitting," which intensifies eikos, "reasonable, fair, equitable," L-S) – equity ("justice-beyond-justice") /epieíkeia ("true equity") is a "sweet reasonableness" that knows when to "relax the strict legal requirements concern­ing others . . . to carry out the real spirit of the law" (G. R. Berry). See 1933 (epieikēs).

5. 2) to do military duty, be on active service, be a soldier

Heb 5:11-14  Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.  12  For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.  13  For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.  14  But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

7. 2Ti 3:16-17  All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;  17  so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Heb 4:12  For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
