What you can do in Vienna
There’s a lake in front of the Upper Belvedere palace. In the evening, when the sky becomes twilight blue, it’s a beautiful place to take an iconic photo of the building, the Christmas market, the lights and the reflections in the water.

What you can do in Vienna
There are concerts galore to enjoy. For example, you can book tickets for the special “Strauss and Mozart” Christmas concerts at the Kursalon (where Strauss himself performed). And for even more advent atmosphere, take in a choir recital or advent concert. Top venues include Stephansdom (St.Stephen’s cathedral), the Peterskirche, and the Minoritenkirche (an Italian church).

Food in Vienna One of the definite must-try foods in Vienna is the traditional Wiener Schnitzel, a thin cut of meat – originally veal – coated in breadcrumbs and fried. Vienna is known for its love for cafés, which are a big part of the local culture. An ideal stop at one would involve eating Apfelstrudel (Apple Strudel) with tea or coffee. Apfelstrudel, together with Wiener Schnitzel and Tafelspitz, are considered the traditional dishes of Vienna.
