House with 17 apartments Building Size 1.425 m² Project Dates – Saint-Gobain Products & Systems Rigips Habito, Rígips Die Harte, Rigips Die Weiße, Glasroc H, VARIO, RigiProfil MultiTec In the trendy area of Lüneburg, the so-called Hanseviertel, a modern medium-size apartment building was built in only 9 months on a plot of m². 17 brand-new individual units were created by using the full range of Saint-Gobain Rigips products including innovations like Rigips Habito or Rigips Glasroc H. The size of the apartments ranges from 87 m² up to 144 m² and each of them has an unique and innovative floor plan with organic forms. The whole building was created with the focus to achieve the DGNB-certification in Gold for sustainability and thereby combines the demand for high quality living space and sustainability. The building has a size of m² living space and the total construction costs added up to 4,6 Mio €. A huge variety of different Saint-Gobain Rigips products and systems were used such as the Rigips Habito System, Rigips Die Harte, Rigips Die Weisse or Glasroc H. In total m² of various Rigips plasterboard tiles together with Rigips MultiTec profiles and more than kg joint filler were used for the dry-lining work.

Presentation of the project:
17 modern and individual flats with different floor sizes and organic forms use of the full range of Saint-Gobain Rigips products DGNB in Gold application submitted This plan of the 1st floor gives you a good idea of the different organic forms, that had to be realised in the 17 individual flats. Heide-Aktiv Trockenbau is a very Rigips-minded contractor and therefore he only installed Rigips tiles with the full range of recommended Rigips accessories like joint filler and metal studs. To build this extraordinary project an excellent craftsmanship and a very innovative attitude towards the use of new products was necessary. The building owner’s and architect’s main goal was to create a sustainable building according to the German DGNB standard in Gold. This meant, that most tasks during the building process had to be monitored thoroughly and after the completion of the building, all invoices had to be submitted. Gold is only awarded to projects that achieve a performance index between 50 to 65 % in all result-relevant topics. Although the building was finished in March 2017, so far the DGNB certificate has not been issued due to a work overload, but they have given notice that the relevant criteria have been met.

1. Main characteristics of this project? Three main challenges solved with Saint-Gobain innovative products 2. 3. Shaped staircase wall Rigips Habito Organic forms in the flats Rigips GK-Form 6 mm Outdoor ceilings in the loggias Glasroc H Heide-Aktiv-Trockenbau was very open to using new Saint-Gobain products and tried to find the best possible solution particularly for the three main challenges: construction of the shaped staircase Organic forms in most of the flats Outdoor ceiling in the loggias

Strenghtend with UA as well as CW metal studs
Challenge 1: staircase Strenghtend with UA as well as CW metal studs Lined with Rigips Habito The first challenge for the contractor was to find a material with which the curved inner dry-lining walls of the staircase could be lined. The specification consisted of the above shown sketch and the architect had absolutely no idea how it could be accomplished. It was clear from the beginning, that the material had to have a strong impact resistance as well as the capacity fix the wooden handrail directly onto it. A perfect case for the new Rigips Habito which was launched on the trade fair BAU 2017 in Munich. After some counseling with the local Rigips sales representative, the building owner as well as the architect were convinced of using this innovative material. The straight parts of the drywall construction were strengthened with UA studs which were fixed directly with UA fixing kits to the concrete floor. Additional CW studs were fixed with drilling screws in between, to reduce the distance of the metal studs to 312,5 mm. This lead to a reinforcement of the substructure and was done in all areas with sufficient space. Onto the top of this construction a UW stud was fixed.
8
In the shaped parts of the wall, some of the vertical studs didn’t have a direct connection from ceiling to floor and these had to be mounted to the raw ceiling with a flare and the metal studs had to be incised. Onto the studs a first layer of standard plasterboard and then a second layer with Rigips Habito was mounted with screws exactly according to the Rigips installation guideline. The joints were then filled with Rigips VARIO joint filler and the surface was completed with Rigips PromixPlus to achieve the required Q3 quality. After the painting of the staircase, the wooden handrail was directly fixed onto the Rigips Habito with screws. Architect, building owner and contractor were very satisfied with this innovative solution

8 different shaped walls with organic forms
Challenge 2 8 different shaped walls with organic forms Another challenge in this project was to realize eight different wall shapes. No appartement was similar to the other and for most of them the architect specified unique organic forms for bathrooms or storage space. The contractor received the drawings (see first row) and had to develop a way how to realize them. For the substructure of the curved areas incised metal UW studs with a reduced span of 250 mm were used and mounted and with three layers as follows: 1st layer plasterboard (incised) 2nd and 3rd layer Rigips GK Form (similar to Glasroc F in 6,5 mm)
10
For the straight walls Rigips “Die Weiße” for high surface quality and Rigips Die Harte for impact resistance were used. The surface was realised in Q3 with Rigips PromixPlus.

Ceiling construction in the loggia
Challenge 3 Ceiling construction in the loggia Glasroc H for moisture protection Surface Q4 The last challenge took place outside in the ceilings of the loggias. Here the architect wanted a ceiling flush mount to the concrete flare. In order to use the moisture resistant product Glasroc H, a structural validation by Rigips had to be prepared in order to guarantee that wind and suction loads were met. Here again the contractor installed the complete Glasroc H system, with Glasroc H tiles, Rigips C3 metal studs and Glasroc H joint filler. The surface quality was realised according to the highest German standard in Q4 qualitiy 140 m² Glasroc H 432 m Rigips C3 studs Glasroc H joint filler. Glasroc H could be used as it is mold resistant and is water repellent.

Key challenges Extravagantly shaped staircase wall
8 Different types of organic forms in the apartments Special ceiling construction for the loggias Use of modern and sustainable Rigips products Development of own solutions Heide Aktiv Trockenbau succeded in meeting all the mentioned challenges. Architect and building owner were very satisfied with their work. They were open to use innovative and sustainable products and tried to find solutions for the architects requirements which were not very specific. They convinced architect and owner to use the brand-new Rigips Habito.
