4 ELA Expectations This year we will be following the new EL curriculum.
EL is divided into two 1-hour blocks – the first block is a whole class lesson and the second block will small group rotations. We will be working with one book each quarter. During the second block, students will be completing a variety of reading activities. Students are encouraged to use their time wisely. Any incomplete assignments may result in homework. I will be implementing Daily 4 as part of my ELA instruction. While I am holding guided reading groups, the other students will be working on independent assignments. Daily 4 assignments will be assigned on Monday and due Friday. Students will have plenty of time completing their assignments in class.  Any unfinished work becomes homework.  If your child is taking home a lot of work, it means that he/she is not using his/her class time wisely.
