5 Workshop Objectives After attending this session, participants will be able to: Explain the five most common pitfalls of engaging youth voice Identify at least one strategy for avoiding each of the five most common pitfalls Identify a plan for engaging youth voice in an authentic way within their own work

9 Process the Activity Find your sole-mate!
Discuss the following questions: What’s something you’re thinking about? What effect might the values explored in the handout have on your work with young people? What’s something concrete you can do to avoid your biases negatively impacting your work with young people?

10 Brainstorm Time! Create a group word cloud of what we think about when we think of ‘authentic youth engagement’. What does authentic youth engagement look/feel/sound like? *Do not let “…but” into the conversation.

Read the bulleted description of the pitfall in your packet Read the scenario provided at the station Fill in the chart paper by answering the questions Rotate to the next pitfall when you hear the chime NOTE: Avoid getting bogged down in discussing the things out of your control.
