Tips for the Speaking Test
Be on time! Don’t waste time. Say as much as you can – remember the Rule of 5 Speak English only Use the grammar and vocabulary we discussed in class Practice and prepare for every question Be ready for follow-up questions

Unit 5 – Risk What kinds of risks are OK to take? Why? What kinds of risks are not OK to take? Why? Do you think you are a risk taker? Why or why not? What dreams or goals do you have that might require you to take risks? Describe those risks.

Unit 6 – Responsibility Do you think you are a responsible citizen? Why or why not? How much responsibility does your family give you? In what ways do you take responsibility for the world you live in?

Unit 7 – Money and Happiness
How much money do you think people really need in order to be happy? Explain. If you suddenly got one billion won what would you do with it? What effects of sudden wealth do you think would be hardest to deal with? Why? What would be the biggest changes in your life if you were suddenly rich?

Unit 8 – Success What does success mean to you?
In what ways do you think you are successful? Do you think it’s important to make sure that your goals are achievable? Why or why not? Who is the most successful person you know? In what ways is he or she successful?

Advice for the written exam.
Please write your answers clearly! On the matching, please write a clear uppercase letter (A, B, C, D, etc.). Many lowercase letters (a, b, c, d, etc.) look similar to each other with sloppy handwriting. On the multiple choice questions please circle your answers. If I do not know what your answer is, it is wrong.

Written Test Procedure
Clear your desk. Spread out. Be quiet once I start handing out tests. If you have a question or a problem, please raise your hand and tell me. Write your answers clearly. When you have finished, please put your test paper on my podium. Leave the room quietly. Come back for your speaking test appointment.
