There are certain characteristics that make a Humpback Whale a mammal. Theyre warm blooded, give birth to live humpback whales, and feed their babies using mothers milk. They breathe using lungs. They have to come to the surface to breathe. They also have small hairs on their body which is part of being a mammal.

What Humpback Whales Eat Humpback whales eat: Shrimp, krill, small fish, and babies drink moms milk. They have baleen teeth. Baleen teeth are soft, furry teeth. A humpback whale can open his mouth and shrimp, krill, and small fish can swim in.

The Humpback Whales Social Habits The humpback whale helps other humpback whales. If a shark is trying to get the mothers calf, other humpback whales help the mother by scaring away the shark. If a humpback is trying to catch food, other humpback whales join in and make a net.

Breaching Humpback whales can dive down five hundred to seven hundred feet and stay under there for up to 30 minutes. They can breach high out of the ocean… then splash the water VERY hard ! If you got slapped that hard, you would have a red mark for a week

Facts on male and females A male Humpback whale can sing up to 15 to 30 minutes. Humpback whales have lungs so they have to come up, breath fresh air, and go down into the ocean. Baby Humpbacks are six feet at birth.

Humpback whales can camouflage into sand, coral, and the water. Its hard to see humpback whales in dark water because their color can get to be so dark. Sometimes its easy to spot one. Like if its white, water is not white it does not camouflage. But it camouflages into ice barges, snow, and ice.

When they want to find food and they cant see, they send a noise out and it bounces off a fish or a rock. Their eye sight is not that good, so they use echolocation. If there is a rock, they can hear where it is!
