Mrs. Jensen’s News March 4th – March 8th, 2019 What are learning!
We focused on reading Eric Carle books. Ask your child about the comparing and contrasting we did with his stories. We have a very observant class! Our character education books have been a nice addition to our reading this week! We’ve discussed how it feels to be angry and what we can do to calm ourselves . Ask your child: What is ENEMY PIE? How does it taste? Can you show me how to do RAINBOW BREATHING? How does it help you? Is there anything wrong with feeling angry? Our main focus this week was on letter Hh. We did continue to review the other letters throughout the week too! This week we worked on: are, do , that (new words) they, where, here (review) * Color words and numbers words continue to be a challenge for many. In math, we discussed volume (full, not full, empty). We are continuing to work on all the different ways to make 10. We drew imaginary friends using specific directions. Your child gave their creation a name too! In science, we talked about the weather coming in like a lion and going our like a lamb. We also played a game and watched a video. With all the sick kids our this week, we talked often about germs and learned how hand sanitizer kills the germs when we aren’t able to wash our hands. You’ll have to ask your child what germs look like. Many thought germs looked silly! *** GREATNESS WORD: Self-control Important Dates March 20th – Early Out Homework Practice counting objects (slowly, touch and scoot, organize) and recognizing numbers to 30 and also counting backwards from 30. Continue to review all of our high-frequency words. We are in need of items to make our leprechaun traps. Please send 2 items with your child on Monday. (empty - paper towels rolls, small boxes, tissue box, etc.) No need to buy anything. Mrs. Jensen
