3 --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV) As they approached Jerusalem and
came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” (cont’d) --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV)

4 on them for Jesus to sit on. (cont’d)
This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. (cont’d) --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV)

5 --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV) A very large crowd spread their cloaks
on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” (cont’d) --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV)

6 --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV) When Jesus entered Jerusalem,
the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” --Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV)

11 --Luke 18:10-14 (NLT) “Two men went to the Temple to pray.
One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not like other people—cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ “But the tax collector stood at… (cont’d) --Luke 18:10-14 (NLT)

…a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” --Luke 18:10-14 (NLT)

24 --Matthew 21:12-13 (NIV) Jesus entered the temple courts and

33 “Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.
