2 SnooCODE Founded in 2011 by Ghanaian Sesinam Dagadu
Problem: lack of formal addresses → inefficient ambulance services, weak postal / food delivery systems. A free mobile app that generates a 6 or 7-digit alphanumeric geolocation code for every property in Ghana - 200x more precise than a UK post code or a US Zip Code! Allows for quick and accurate address saving, sharing and navigating Socially inclusive: abc’s and 123’s. Works without internet connection. Creates new delivery job opportunities

4 Collaboration between SnooCODE, the Vodafone Ghana Foundation, and the Ghana National Ambulance Service. Individuals can communicate their code to to emergency services via a call or text message. Ambulances can more easily find them. Goal: save lives by improving response time, change negative perceptions of emergency service

5 FarmDrive Founders observed that poor harvests were a matter of capital → FarmDrive gives small-scale farmers access to loans and financial management tools through their phones Rita Kimani and Peris Bosire of Kenya

6 FarmDrive They use an algorithm and datasets from around the world to create credit scores, which incentivizes farmers to pay back loans and then increases trust Offers financial institutions opportunity to increase their agriculture portfolios; they assign credit scores to the farmers and also work with the financial institutions to give out loans that are more likely to be repaid (on time) Reduces on-the-ground recruitment costs, reducing risk in general with their assessments saves money, and reduces operational costs bc it’s on the phone

7 The Tutu Tester Van Mobile clinic that provides HIV testing along with contraception education as well as screenings for more common diseases such as diabetes and hypertension to reduce stigma and protect privacy Founded in 2008 by the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation Approaches HIV as a chronic and treatable condition Offers testing with greater convenience than traditional clinics brings essential healthcare services straight to communities in Cape Town where levels of HIV are high, but levels of treatment are low. In fact, around a fifth of South Africans between have HIV. Communities most vulnerable to HIV and TB are remote and densely populated. Medical clinics are often far away and the time and cost involved make it difficult for people to access healthcare.
