The same attitude as that of Christ Jesus
Philippians 2: 1-5

Philippians 2: 1-5 (NIV) 1Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

Introduction What was Jesus’ attitude toward his disciples?
Why should we have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus? How do we take the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus?
4
What was Jesus’ attitude toward his disciples?
Be alert and peaceful Matthew 10: 16 “ I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.” Matthew 26: 41 “41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mathew 26: 52 “Put your sword back in its place…for all who draw sword will die by the sword.”
5
To take ones cross and follow Jesus
Matthew 10: “and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 16: “…If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.”

Be humble and serve Mark 10: “43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” John 13: “14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”

Why should we have the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus?
Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Our attitude is to reflect our heart/mind. If we treasure Jesus’ teaching our heart will be focusing on his teaching and also will practice in our life.

How do we take the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus?
Practice is better than plan; Action is better than lip service – the evidence of faith 1 John 3: “16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence:”
