A strong legacy with our traditional agencies and a new adventure with non-traditional partners

2 Who is Paratransit Inc. ? Paratransit, Inc. is a local public agency, organized as a non-profit organization Paratransit, Inc. was founded in 1978 and is the designated Consolidated Transportation Services Agency for Sacramento County and provides ADA paratransit services, and above and beyond services, as well as Mobility Management Services to the SACOG region. Paratransit, Inc. has a staff of over 250 employees and is overseen by a Board of Directors appointed by the City of Sacramento, County of Sacramento, Sacramento Council of Governments and Sacramento Regional Transit

3 What is Mobility Management?
Mobility management is an approach to designing and delivering transportation services that starts and ends with the customer. It begins with a community vision in which the entire transportation network—public transit, private operators, cycling and walking, volunteer drivers, and others—works together with customers, planners, and stakeholders to deliver the transportation options that best meet the community's needs. ---(National Center for Mobility Management)

CTSA Program partners: 9 major Social Service Agencies Partnership offerings: Vehicles Insurance Reimbursement Training Capacity Overflow Grants and Other Reporting Assistance

5 Benefits Last Year more trips were provided in Sacramento County by our Nine Partner Agencies than were provided by Paratransit for ADA and Non-ADA service Our partners agencies operating approximately 30% more trips than we did Most of these trips are ADA eligible and would have otherwise been on the ADA network The incremental Costs of the Partner Agencies Program tremendous savings Subsidy for 17 Partner Agency trips= 1 ADA service ride

6 Turning Experience into New Opportunities
MOVING YOUTH TO JOBS Paratransit Inc.’s Moving Youth to Jobs Travel Training program is intended as an opportunity for youth and young adults to be able to navigate public transportations bus, light rail, Jump Bike and Smart Ride systems independently. By acquiring specific travel/ mobility skills, young adults will be empowered to travel efficiently and arrive to work on time. This program affords youth an opportunity to utilize public transit and other modes of transport to reach destinations of their choice.

7 Why Focus on Youth? Workforce Development is one of the largest emerging issues facing the Country “Thousand Strong”- Thousand Strong is an initiative to work together as a community to boost Sacramento’s economic prosperity by working with local businesses to create a pool of skilled, experienced young talent.

9 It’s Not Just Travel Training it is Teaching Transportation Literacy
A Participant Will Learn: Trip planning and time management Gain an understanding of the Regional transit systems and other transit districts Learn how to travel using Jump Bike, Smart Ride and downloadable transit applications Effective communication with public transit drivers and customer service Community safety awareness Prepare for the unexpected Reading and using system maps and schedules Connect Card registration and utilization
