1 Yvonne Cox Programme Lead – Improving health care for people with learning disabilities

2 Purpose To lead a programme of work over the next 2 years – which supports NHS Confederation members to better understand and respond to the health car needs of people with learning disabilities.

4 Specific Priorities The improvement of general healthcare across primary, acute and mental health services to people with learning disability. The continued development of commissioning for specialist health services, this will include continued monitoring of the transfer of monies to social care (and transfer of services), service specifications, monitoring and currency (PbR), and campus closure. The development and provision of specialist learning disability health services. This will include workforce issues, best practice and standards, safeguarding, and funding issues. The group will be reviewing these priorities when Valuing People Now is published.

5 First 3 months Getting to know the Confederation and seek out the most effective ways to deliver improved health care Meeting other organisations to ensure no duplication and agree what the unique contribution of the confederation should be Getting out and about to find good practice and produce briefing notes Pick up any Learning Disability issues as they arise
