Farmers from Northern Ireland, Spain, Malta, Italy ENTRY COMPETENCIES Farmers who want to start up an agritourism OBJECTIVE To update their own current skills and be oriented to take on a tourist reception role also oriented towards the promotion of the territory and sustainability

3 CONTENT National and regional laws about multifunctional agriculture Normative aspects and trend in progress Food education and sustainable development Basic of communication and territorial marketing Design and development of the agritourism services projects. RELATED CONTENT TO SUSTAINABILITY Links between promotion of (typical) local products and environmental sustainability Basic of promotion of a conscious tourism

4 CASE STUDIES During the lectures two/three case studies on excellent examples of agritourism will be analysed: Farm n. 1 CLOROFILLA Mercato Saraceno (Forlì-Cesena - Emilia-Romagna – Italy) Multifunctional services: 4 apartments; restaurant. There is also a farm where the kids can learn about the world of the countryside. Farm n° 2 ANTICA GOLENA Monticelli Terme di Montechiarugolo (Parma) Multifunctional services: Agritourism (only rooms), food services, direct selling, educational farm, social Farm

5 ACQUIRED COMPETENCIES (to be used also for curriculum/certificate)
KNOWLEDGE What you have to know Role of farmer committed in multifunctionality The relationship between the multifunctional farms and local institution of the territory Objectives of sustainability for multifunctional farmers (also as opportunity for new service to integrate farmers income). Technical, commercial and sanitary frameworks SKILLS What you have to do or what you are able to do To organize and manage news services oriented to the chosen strategic objectives (strategical skill / logistical skill) To promote corporate image, through appropriate tools and means (working competence) To keep updated on the news of the provincial, regional, European programs (Competence to identify the development of the territorial system and the construction of networks). To plan an appropriately welcome of guests (empathy competence) To prepare informative / hospitality and animation projects according to the guests / learners requests. (Planning and methodological competence). To pay attention to the preparation of public events To take a careful analysis of the results, in terms of the effectiveness of the services provided. 8 hours of which 4 hours lectures and case studies, 2 hours of practical exercise, 2 hours visit to an agritourism DIDACTIC METHODOLOGIES (formal and non formal) Learning by searching (analysis of case studies – cooperative learning) Informal learning (direct observation of working experiences in the farm) EVALUATION METHODOLOGIES Multiple choice test Open questions Thinking session and discussing on feelings and observations about the received training RELEASED CERTIFICATION Attendance certificate (detailed attendance certificate describing the treated matters and the number of training hours)
