Be it 3 Basic Choices in Life
What we have What we do Who we are Visualize where you want to be in your life. Then, be it. This power process will help your students enhance all of the techniques they have learned in this course, by changing the way they seem themselves. As the course comes to an end, it’s a good time for more self-reflection. Think about these three choices: What we HAVE, what we DO, and who we ARE. The challenge is choosing your own balance between having, doing, and being. Do you know anyone who is very materialistic? Their focus is all about what they have. How about someone who exclusively identifies herself by what she does… by what she accomplishes? And finally, do you know anyone whose primary focus is who they are… their being? If you assigned a total of 100 points to these 3 qualities, how many points would you give yourself in each of these three areas? If you want to be a friend, visualize yourself as a friend. Be a friend. If you want to be more trustworthy, visualize you as a trustworthy individual. Be trustworthy. If you want to be a nurse, visualize yourself as a nurse. Be it.

The master employee Excellence in higher education promotes success on the job. Ask students to generate skills they learn in college that will be valued in the workplace (being on time, focusing during lecture, leadership, communication, thinking creatively & critically, collaboration, living with vibrant health, etc). They are now on the path of becoming a master employee. Use this chapter to explore the question: “what’s next?”

To succeed at job hunting, students need to use a variety of methods. The traditional method relies on sending out resumes and waiting for responses. This list represents a more active approach to help students stand out and find the jobs that may never get advertised.
