CLASSIFICATION
2
In an attempt to understand living things, scientists arrange organisms into groups. Organisms that are biologically similar are grouped together and those that are different are placed in a different group.
3
Initially, organisms were grouped based
on physical similarities. Today, organisms are grouped based on evolutionary relationships/genetic makeup/DNA.
4
The Three Domains of Life
7
Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species K P C O F G S
Organisms are placed into groups called taxa. These taxa are: Kingdom Phylum Class Order Family Genus Species K P C O F G S (Most inclusive) Katy Perry Came Over For Great Spaghetti

What are the six kingdoms of living things?
The six kingdoms are: Archaebacteria Eubacteria Protista Fungi Plantae Animalia

Homo sapiens (Two names) Carolus Linnaeus (1707 – 1778)
- Develop system of classification/taxa - Developed a two-word naming system to identify organisms called binomial nomenclature. two name Each organism has a scientific name that consists of two names: Homo sapiens (Two names)
