3 Introduction Stonehenge was build around 54 b.c.
Has several hundred burial grounds The “Black/Bubonic Death” occurred in 1348 and 1350 killed 1.5 million people King Henry VII became the ruler of England during the Renaissance era The first king of the Tudor Era During the Elizabethan Era William Shakespeare became the most important figure of that time Most towns in England contained a grammar school (they believed in having a good education)

4 Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603) Daughter of Henry VIII
Reign: November 17, 1558 – March 24, 1603 Supported the Protestant Rebellion against Spain Defeated the Spanish Armada in 1588 Executed her cousin Mary in 1567 Resolved religious issues between Catholics and Protestants to unite England

5 King James I ( ) formed the British Empire by uniting tribes of Scotland First to call England, Great Britain Became King of England at 13 months old Took throne in 1603 (reign ) Faced great hardships in England Gun Powder Plot in a failed attempt to have King James murdered Achieved great success in foreign policy for England He brought the war with Spain to an end Many people mourned King James when he died (he was well liked)

6 King Charles I (1600-1649) Son of King James I Reign: 1625-1649
Ruled without parliament for 11 years ( ) Had unauthorized taxes Triennial Act - parliament must be summoned every 3 years The English civil war ( ) Fought against the New Model Army (parliament) and the Scots (scots apposed his views on religion) Was defeated and arrested for treason (for war against parliament) and beheaded on January 30, 1649

7 Conclusion Queen Elizabeth I united England even though she supported Protestantism  King James I united Scotland with England and was able to end the war against Spain although there were attempts to murder him King Charles I did not rule with parliament which created the Triennial Act and started the English Civil War
