New guidelines for reporting of the EMEP centres – increased role of the Task Forces in reviewing new science and data New emission reporting guidelines New monitoring strategy will be developed for adoption in 2003 Integrated assessment modelling work shall examine the links between regional air pollution and climate change

Eulerian model to be ready by Dec High priority for its validation – call to Parties to help! Also validation of the EMEP heavy metals model Proposal to increase the budget (by 5%) in 2004 and update the assessment scale Jürgen Schneider new EMEP Chairman United Kingdom offered to take over the lead for the Task Force on Measurements and Modelling with Dick Derwent as Chairman

Report to be finalized by 2004 The Working Group on Effects prepares a substantive report for 2004 – cooperation! The review of the Gothenburg Protocol will start in 2004 The Convention will have 25 years in 2004
