2. Due Process
The US government cannot act in an unfair manner or disobey established rules.
Substantive due process deals with the procedures of government action and procedural due process deals with the policies of government action.
People must be given due process.

3. Police Power
The States have police power which is the authority to protect and promote the public safety.
The police power sometimes conflicts with civil rights protection.
Drinking and driving has been a big debate.
The courts have always come down on the side of the police.

4. Police Power
States can limit the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
States can forbid concealed weapons, and require the use of seatbelts.
States can outlaw gambling and the sale of obscene materials.

5. Right Of Privacy
People have the right to be free from unwanted government intrusions into one’s private life.
Roe v Wade was the landmark case in this right.
This gave women the right to have an abortion is the first trimester and limited abortions in the second trimester.
