2 Description Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, students are able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of responsible behaviors in global and local business from the viewpoint of their major discipline. The students are able to work in multidisciplinary groups and create a collective approach for uniting economic with socially and environmentally responsible bottom lines within a global business context. Contents: The course deals with the diversity of contemporary business issues related to sustainability and responsibility when operating in the global marketplace. Based on the triple-bottom-line concept students are introduced to theoretical and practical perspectives from the disciplines of accounting, economics, finance, management/international business and marketing. Students learn to detect, analyze, and create different approaches of how to globally and locally achieve social and environmental goals in addition to economic objectives of a business.

3 Course practicalities in short
The course consists of five different parts 1 – 5 (part 0 consists of instructions). Students acquire a grade by passing the different parts in numerical order. Part 1 is compulsory for all students and when a student passes the part she/he earns grade 1. After that students can raise the grade by passing the next parts in numerical order (2 parts = grade 2, …, 5 parts = grade 5) The course uses online and blended study methods. 5 Part 0: Getting started Learning objective: Instruction methods:
Students will gain understanding of the course practicalities: Introduction to course structure and method of learning Course outline and evaluation Students will gain information on how to use the learning environment applied in the course: CLANED™ -digital learning environment by Claned Group Instruction methods: All information is available in CLANED and the course teachers use CLANED’s chat area for discussions.

6 Part 1: Basics Assignments:
Schedule: Part 1 starts on Tuesday 9th January 2018 and ends on Monday 22nd January (2 weeks) Learning objective: Students demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of responsible business based on current theoretical understanding. Students will gain in-depth knowledge of responsibility issues from the perceptive of their own major discipline (Accounting, Finance Economics, Management and international business, and Marketing) as well as its connections to other business disciplines. Learning materials: Video “Introduction to globally responsible business” Chapter: “1. What is CSR?” in the course book : Chandler D. & Werther W.B. Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility: Stakeholders, Globalization and Sustainable Value Creation (2014). Discipline specific study package which can include articles, videos and websites (appointed in CLANED). Assignments: Sustainability Literacy test (Online: See instructions in CLANED) Commenting video “Introduction to globally responsible business” in CLANED Writing individual learning report 1. containing answers to appointed questions available in CLANED. Making video presentation 5-10 minutes (using video tools, instructions in CLANED) related to one’s own discipline, deadline Participating in discussions based on the videos. Taking reflection quiz based on the videos

7 Part 2: From local to global
Schedule: Part two starts on Tuesday 23rd of January and ends on Monday 29th January. (1 week) Learning objectives: Students deepen their basic knowledge and learn to detect different approaches on how to globally and locally achieve social and environmental goals in addition to economic objectives of a business. Learning materials: United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals Three articles: Allinson RE. (2004) Circles within a circle: The condition for the possibility of ethical business institutions within a market system Jeurissen's (2000) Book review about "Elkington J. (1997) Cannibals With Forks: the Triple Bottom Line of 21st Century Business. Capstone: Oxford Engelbrecht S. (2012) Radical business ethics: a critical and postmetaphysical manifesto. Assignment: Commenting Sustainable Development Goals Writing individual learning report 2. containing answers to appointed questions available in CLANED

8 Part 3: Applications Schedule: Part three starts on Tuesday 30th January and ends on Monday 5th February. (1 week) Learning objectives: Students are able to apply the earlier learned theories into study cases and form shared understanding within their group based on the case analyses. The cases are real life cases about complexities and challenges in responsible business. Learning materials: Case exercise materials appointed in CLANED. Assignment: Every group produces a blog post (accessible to all course participants) about the main lesson learned based on the case exercises (about 600 words), deadline Reading and commenting blog posts by other groups (at least two other blog posts and participation in the discussion generated in your own blogpost), deadline Filling the group work evaluation sheet in CLANED

9 Part 4: Holistic perspective
Schedule: Part four starts on Tuesday 6th February and ends on Monday 12th February. (1 week) Learning objectives: Students demonstrate knowledge of global and strategic issues in responsibility. Students apply analytical and comprehensive thinking in holistic responsibility issues. Learning material: Lecture videos in CLANED. Reading material: Scientific articles appointed in CLANED. Assignment: Individual home exam, delivery by 23:59 pm

10 Part 5: Case-study Schedule: Part five starts on Tuesday 13th February and ends on 26th February. (2 weeks) Learning objective: Students are able to create a collective approach for uniting economic with socially and environmentally responsible bottom lines within a global business context in a real life case. Learning method: Group work in multidisciplinary groups around a real life case company (appointed by the course instructors in CLANED). Data will be gathered through online interview video, internet and other public materials. The case companies have positive impact and are currently working with responsibility issues. Assignment: Each group needs to prepare a final report in written form about the case based on a given framework and make development suggestions. Return date for preliminary report is and final report
