Regional branding and Messaging
Updates: Marketing Regional branding and Messaging We did a great job doing the work that we said we’re going to do but maybe we didn’t do such a good job in marketing ourselves, and letting people know exactly what it is we’re doing. Big disappointment not to get funded in Year 3 but part of that is because the region still do not recognize the importance of what we do. Need a little branding and messaging – this is who we are, this is what we do, and this is how we can help the region. Communicate the importance of the role of the community colleges in teacher preparation. Currently talking to a marketing and communications company

Goal To scale up teacher preparation programs in community colleges in the Los Angeles region by developing a replicable model of education pathway(s) aligned with the Guided Pathways initiative, with a particular focus in STEM and CTE, while impacting the SWP metrics. Overarching goal is aligned with the statewide CCC-TPP mission of scaling up TPP… This funding is to build teacher preparation programs in the community colleges, to develop replicable TPP pathway models, align with the Guided Pathways (for sustainability), and focusing in STEM, CTE, Special Education, Bilingual Education and other critical/shortage areas in teaching, We all need to be contributing to the SWP metrics. This is really what this funding Is for. What it’s not is to spend it on other CTE projects or ongoing services that have nothing to do with teacher preparation. This to build and grow Teacher Preparation. It’s not to grow the CTE, or the STEM or Child Development department. In light of what I just said, it is important that we all review what we’re currently doing, review our TPP Workplans and see if it aligns with our regional objectives.

Review your Round 2 workplan for alignment with regional objectives.
Action Item: Review your Round 2 workplan for alignment with regional objectives. Ask yourself these questions. Do you have outcomes contributing to the SWP metrics? Does your workplan target STEM, CTE, Special Education and other critical/shortage areas in education? Do you have objectives or activities that align with the regional objectives/activities? For colleges that did not have existing TPP programs prior to this funding: Are your objectives moving towards building a TPP program at your college? If your answer is “no” to all the questions above, then please consider submitting a revised workplan.

Report from July 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018*
Reporting Timeline: Round 1 – (July 1, 2016 – December 2018) Round 2 – Year 1 (July 1, 2017 – December 2019) Round 2 – Year 2 (July 1, 2018 – December 2020) Quarterly Reports Report from July 1, 2017 – December 31, 2018* Called this meeting for us to discuss the upcoming report. Round 1 is over so this quarterly reports involve Round 2 participants only. If your college was part of the TPP, Round 1 but not Round 2, you are more than welcome to continue to attend the meetings, you are always part of the collaborative. But if you do, we hope that you will also submit the report as a contributing member of the collaborative. 1st qtr report due: April 12, 2019 Please don’t think I have the answers to your questions. Everyone interprets these questions differently. So as a collaborative we need to discuss and decide on some sort of guidelines on how we should respond to the questions. The report is 6 pages long. You no longer have the most updated template. I added the regional objectives narrative that LAOCRC requested recently from the Round 1 participants because I am pretty sure we’ll be asked the same questions in Round 2, as well. The report may seem long but keep in mind that when I created the template, I tried to think of every aspect of TPP that we can report on. We all do different things to build our TPP programs, so some of you who have been around for a while may have really good #s to report for most of the questions, some of the newer colleges may not. Some of us may have the ability to track or obtain data (e.g. from IRP), but some colleges may not. Our ability to answer some questions may depend on our resources on campus. For ex., I was never able to report #s for most of the questions on TPP services that our students avail of because I have no way of tracking those. But recently I was able to get some #s from our counseling office on the # of TPP students using counseling services. I found out they log all appts in SARS so we were able to obtain a list of TPP (Education majors) students who met a counselor. Time Frame Due Date Jan 1, 2019 – Mar 31, 2019 April 12, 2019 April 1, 2019 – June 30, 2019 July 12, 2019 July 1, 2019 – Sep 30, 2019 October 11, 2019 Oct 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019 January 10, 2020

Report Template No one expects these reports to be 100% accurate, even the statewide reports are not. Of course we have to do our due diligence to make sure that they are accurate as possible and that we’re not just reporting #s that has nothing to do with our TPP efforts or funding. So with that in mind, I think we should go question by question and see if people have questions and we can all chime in on how we should respond/provide data. For those who have been doing reports for the Chancellor’s Office for similar questions, please provide us your insights. Remember that a lot of these questions were taken from the Education Futures report. That was done intentionally so we don’t have all these different reports we have to do for each grant. But if you’re an EF grantee, you should answer similar questions, whether in EF or SWP consistently.
