(a) Sagittal reformatted images through the lower lumbar vertebrae show an osteolytic lesion within the posterior elements of L4 and L5. Some small osseous fragments remain within the tumor matrix. The vertebral bones are relatively unaffected. (b) Biopsy material demonstrated that the amyloid deposits stained positively with Congo red and inflammatory cell accumulation.
