2 A. Work- occurs when a force causes an object to move in the direction of the force. The SI unit for work is joule (J).

3 B. Applying force doesn’t always result in work being done.

4 C. Work is done on an object only when the force makes the object move.

5 D. For work to be done, the direction of the object’s motion must be in the same direction as the force is applied.

6 Work Formula Work equals Force times distance W = F x d

7 SI Units Force = (N) newtons Work = (J) joules distance = (m) meters

8 G. Power- is the rate at which work is done
Power Formula Power = work / time P = W t

9 Joules per second is the same as a watt (W).
J. The SI unit for power is a watt (W).
