The US was very busy last year we sent 86 delegations to International meetings last year these delegations are only plenaries and CRMs, does not include WGs. INCITS standards published - 9      (up 6)    New INCITS projects initiated – 9 (up 5) US National Body votes submitted – 863 (down 34) US National Body contributions/comments submitted – 200 (up 89) Global directory submissions – 749 US delegations - 86

3 INCITS at JTC 1 Engagement in improvements to editing practices for ISO/IEC standards US hosting the JTC 1 Plenary for the first of the two plenaries to be held this year. Change from previous years as JTC 1 has gone to a two plenary a year schedule. Additional engagement in more JTC 1 Study Groups and Ad Hoc groups Editing practice improvements: Working with ISO and IEC to address concerns that have been raised by our TCs and editors. Making US contributions to make changes in the ISO/IEC Directives Part 2 The number of ad hoc groups at the JTC1 level has increased and we are seeing more system integration or cross SC related topics being considered Note that Phil will be giving a deeper update on JTC 1 in review.

4 JTC 1 Ad Hocs and SWGs AHG 1 – VR/AR for Education AHG2 – Standards and Regulation SWG2 – Communications SWG7 – Emerging Technology and Innovation (JETI) Note these but these primarily are EB members are involved.

5 JTC 1 Study Groups SG1 – Open Source Software SG2 – Quantum Computing
SG4 – Autonomous and Data Rich Vehicles SG5 – Trustworthiness SG6 – Meta Reference Architecture SG7 – Data Usage SG8 - Outreach These are the groups that are more open and we might note that some of these have reached out to the SC members to join (for example I know that Trustworthiness has many members from a variety of SCs) I would point out that with this increase in SGs that it might be good to get TC leadership involved in relevant groups so that we have a consistent US position on some of these topics.

6 New Activity Created a new TC for ISO/TC 309: Governance of Organizations JTC 1/WG 9 work program moved to SC 42 New JTC 1 WG 12 3D printing and scanning INCITS taking over Secretariat role of some US held SC Secretariats (SC 38, SC 32) This would be where we can introduce Bill Ash (Validate I have the right SCs)

7 From Symposium 2018 What worked well: Location Good Speakers
Good TC Reports Good technology presentations and discussions The next 3 slides go over what we received from the Symposium last year. We may want to comment on trying to continue what worked well

8 From Symposium 2018 What can be improved
Time management, making sure there is enough time balanced through the day Look at strategic topics for next year, leverage TC chairs for strategic direction Look at application of round table topics Get list of overlap dates with existing meetings for scheduling (make sure it is posted) Comment on how we are trying to address these at this symposium. (if it has not already been mentioned, might want to mention the date of the symposium for next year)

9 From Symposium 2018 Topic suggestion for next year: Privacy, Blockchain Focus on a Industry Vertical Do we want to generate marketing collateral? How to attract new members (Organizations), mentor others for membership, ideas for building new members (brainstorming). Attract new experts from existing organizations Roundtable on TC Management best practices, share experiences Have someone come to discuss ways to promote the meeting activities Make note of the fact that we have focused on Privacy this year. We have included Membership growth discussion Will continue to look at ideas for the future.

10 Thank You
