1 M16, NGC 6611, The Eagle Nebula.

2 What is it? Well it is a young Star cluster…..Inside a Nebula

3 How far is it? It’s 7000 Light years from our view from Earth

4 What type of nebula? It’s a part of a diffuse emission Nebula.

5 It’s name It’s common name, The Eagle Nebula, was thought of by Jean-Philippe de Cheseaux as he thought it’s shape resembled an eagle. One few parts within the Nebula are named because of the significance they have with the object of their name and what they do (The Pillar Of Creation and The Stellar Spire)

6 Discovery Was first discovered in 1746 by P.L. de Cheseaux, but only saw the Star clusters inside. 20 years later Charles Messier has found the Nebula around the Star clusters In 1995, images were made by the Hubble Space Telescope. Which spotted out regions of the Nebula. One of those regions are the “Pillar Of Creaton”

8 Location Right Ascension: 18h 18m 48 Sec. Declination -13.47 min.
Located in the Constellation Serpens as a young open cluster of stars.
