Year 7 Information Evening

FORM: Hello and welcome to Pudsey Grangefield School
Form time provides your child with a consistent start to the day. Your child will be in the same room at the same time every morning. This provides each student with a regular point of contact every morning.

What is form time?

Form Schedule Monday: Assembly Tuesday: Literacy – Reading
Wednesday: Attendance Tracker Thursday: PSHEE Friday: PSHEE

Routine Checks Every morning between 8:30 and 8:35am form tutors will conduct four for form routine checks. Form tutors will check uniform as students enter their form room Tutors will then ask students to hold up their equipment (inc. planners and responsibility cards) to check they are ready for the day!

Routines Please encourage your child to pack their bags according to their timetable. Please check Class Charts regularly We would ask that you telephone school before 8.15am, if your son/daughter is going to be absent. For medical/dental appointments please put a signed and dated note in their Planner. Students should sign out and be given an official slip at the main office.

Student Organisation It is students responsibility to be organised:
Equipment Planner Timetable Responsibility Card Students have had opportunity to settle, sanctions now be applied as per the behaviour policy.

Lost Property All lost property will be sent to the main reception
Students need to visit the main reception at break/lunch time It is vitally important students take responsibility for their possessions Please make sure they have their name in all their clothes and PE kit.

Assemblies Whole year group assemblies in the main hall every Monday
Assemblies will cover a range of topics and messages: Introduction to school & key information Evacuation procedures School values Relationships Attendance Social and Moral Understanding Being and staying healthy The value of charity The importance of homework Celebration assemblies (before half term)

Literacy – Reading Every Tuesday Students will read in form time
Reading is incredibly important for all students. What can you do to help: Encourage students and make sure they have a reading book in school Take an interest in the books they are reading and Ask them what they are reading and what they have read

School Values Respect - we show respect for ourselves, others and for people who are different from us. We show respect for the building, our local and wider environments. We are mutually respectful, treating others the way we want to be treated ourselves. Resilience - we have a clear self belief, determination and understand that making mistakes is a key part of learning. We know that the more effort we put in, the better we will become. Integrity - we are trustworthy and honest, true to our word and take responsibility for our actions. Compassion - we care and are considerate towards others. We value kindness, empathy and understanding and have a strong desire to make the world a better place. Ambition - we value educational achievement, have high expectations of ourselves and aim to be the best person we can. No matter how good we are, we always strive for improvement.

The Form Tutor First point of call - Mentoring and Support
Will provide the human side to school. It is not always about grades and levels, the form tutor is a massive part of making sure students are enjoying school and maintaining a positive attitude towards learning. Year 7 Assessments and reports
Year 7 students will be given end of Year 11 GCSE target bands using the KS2 test scores. Students will be given one of three bands for each subject: There will be three assessments weeks. After each assessment there will be a report to parents. Compare how well your son/daughter is doing compared to their target bands. Teachers will also give Attitude To Learning scores. At the start of Year 10 target bands will be replaced with end of Year 11 target grades 1 to 3 4 to 6 7 to 9

Class Charts

Class Charts Students and parents should now all have signed up for Classcharts Classcharts allows you to see attendance, positive and negative points and detentions Detentions will only be communicated through Classcharts from now on

Positive Behaviours In lessons, teachers use Class Charts to recognise positive attitude to learning.

Negative Behaviours Staff can also award negative points.

Rewards Committee A Rewards Committee has been set up and these students will work with you to decide on how your positive points will be recognised.
