Where is the Yorkshire Dales? The Yorkshire Dales National Park can be found in the North of England and South of Northumberland National Park. On the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, lies Richmond and Leyburn.

What can you do in the Yorkshire Dales
What can you do in the Yorkshire Dales? In the Yorkshire Dales, you can go rambling, hiking, exploring and adventuring deep underground. There are dramatic waterfalls like Aysgarth Falls and Hardraw Force which is Britain’s highest, unbroken waterfall. The Yorkshire Dales is a brilliant place to explore!

Did you know? Most dales are named after the rivers that flow through them. Wensleydale is the best known exception, named after the former market town of Wensley.

Drystone Walls Exquisite drystone walls surround the fields in the landscape for which the Yorkshire Dales are famous. Malham Cove was once a huge waterfall! Bolton Abbey is also in the Yorkshire Dales. Drystone walls are everywhere you look.

Underground places to explore
In the subterranean depths of the Yorkshire Dales, there lies cathedral – sized chambers, underground rivers and waterfalls waiting to be explored.

Two new animals have been discovered!
Not long ago in the Dales, two new animals were found. The Perch, a multi-coloured, feathery bird, was found underground flying in murky underground caves and the Splosh was found circling underground caves. Read nest months edition to find out more about these amazing creatures!

The Perch The Perch is a bird that’s nocturnal and a very small size. It’s wings change colour in the wind. The Perch looks a bit like a small heron!

The Splosh The Splosh is a mermaid and a fish mixed together but also a bird!
