#1 #2 Best Practice – Use CamelCase ONEDRIVE FOR BUSINESS
When naming sites, apps, folders, files, and views: Any spaces in the name will be replaced with the “%20” characters SharePoint limits URL lengths to 256 characters To create more readable URLS, use CamelCase when creating site Then change the Title to a user friendly name after the asset is created
15
VIEWS Views Used to sort of filter information based on column values
Public or personal views Default view Types of views Styles of views Also work with libraries
16
DOCUMENT LIBRARIES Optional features Versioning Columns and views
Approvals None, Major, or Major and Minor Limit who can views drafts Require document check out Columns and views Similar to lists You can make columns mandatory Workflows
17
#1 #3 Best Practice – Share a link instead of an attachment
ONEDRIVE FOR BUSINESS #3 Best Practice – Share a link instead of an attachment Instead of attaching documents, send a link to one document stored in myCommunity This ensures everyone is working from the latest copy Document libraries in myCommunities can include major and minor versions with a dedicated set of approvers
18
#1 ONEDRIVE FOR BUSINESS #4 Best Practice – Harness the power of columns (metadata) and views Instead of organizing files within folders within folders, create columns to store metadata about the files. You can then create views to sort and filter the information much like a folder. Views can be public, private (only you can see it), or can have targeted audiences. This also will help ensure URL lengths stay short.
