Design Process Our group examined the box and the unused air space. Then we took into account the amount of space that could be used without crowding the pasta. After analyzing this and the data we decreased the height and length to create a slimmer, more efficient box. Lastly we cut the box out and folded it together with the new measurements.
12
Saved material The new package uses about cm2 less package material than the original. It also reduces the unused air space by approximately %. We reduced the volume by cm3. We took away the plastic window, and left it as cardboard which reduced the amount of wasted material.

Benefits Of The New Package
The new package will be beneficial to Barilla because it will save wasted material that is continuing to pile up in our landfills. This new packaging will also be cost efficient as you won’t have to pay as much for the material because you will be buying less. The design also features a nice, slim, and cool looking box that is perfect for this lasagne. Our new package now is saving material by reducing the unused air space and reducing the amount of material that is used. This package is overall better for the environment because it is reducing the amount of waste that is produced when making this packaging.
