1 Getting to Know Your Mentee

2 Why is this important? You want to get to know your mentee better
This information will help you guide them to figuring out their strengths and areas for improvement, their future goals, and potentially the colleges they will want to apply to Your students needs to be able to think about and describe themselves and their experiences They should be able to present themselves, their attributes, their strengths, and more for interviews, applications, and personal essays Obviously you want to know your mentee better so that you know the person you’re working with. Relate this info to them when asking the following questions. Feel free to make this more conversational and choose the questions you feel will add to the conversation. Discuss your own answers to these questions so they can get to know you better and relate to your experiences. You can also state how you were unsure of some of these answers at their age (such as the career and college goal questions). It is recommended that you provide your mentee with the questionnaire at the end so they can think about or answer the questions on their own time.
