1 Dispersal kernel of C. pensylvanica.
Dispersal kernel of C. pensylvanica. Fraction of the total seeds dispersing as a function of the distance from the mother plant (in cm). Data were taken from an independent experiment in which nine plants were grown in isolation and the distance that each seed dispersed was recorded. The curve corresponds to an exponential distribution fit on these experimental data. Letters indicate the distance between adjacent populations that correspond to our three connected treatments (C, continuous; M, medium; L, long).
