What happens to the recycling?
The recycling bins are collected from kerbside properties, estates and bring sites from around the entire borough by recycling crews. Our crews then take it to the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Crayford What happens to the recycling?

What happens at the Materials Recycling Facility?
The loads are inspected for: Food Garden Waste Other things that may contaminate If cardboard and paper absorbs too much moisture e.g. if its soiled by food grease it can’t be recycled. If the loads are contaminated, they: Will be sent away from the recycling facility Has to be incinerated or landfilled Which costs us more What happens at the Materials Recycling Facility?

With your feedback, we can change our services where possible, to not only educate residents but to increase our targets even further to become one of the greenest boroughs in London!
