English is a difficult language that requires experience with the malleability of the language. Much of the challenge revolves around how English contains words that have identical spelling and pronunciations which can not be determined in a vacuum. Context clues allow for the reader to deduce meaning from the surrounding phrase and is an important concept for English as a Second Language students. This skill is a fundamental aspect of expanding proficiency in the language.

7. Problem Characteristics identified and supported
Having problems associating words without context requires exposure to the words and what they pertain to. Giving pictures of the different ways words can be used and allowing them to come up with the word creates more connections to the usages.
