A Long History Rooted in Amador County
1973 1981 1988 1991 1995 1996 Founded by Cary Gott and was the first post-Prohibition winery to open in Amador County Jeff Meyers joins the team as head Enologist and winemaker, specializing in crafting classic Italian varieties. Trinchero Family Estates purchases the winery and 240 acre property (including Home Vineyard) in the Sierra Foothills, 20 years after “discovering” Amador Zinfandel. The Trinchero family purchases the old D’Agostini Family vineyard, planted in mid 1950s to Barbera (63 acres). Aqcusition of the Farnham Ranch in Amador County, 230 acres planted to Barbera, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Aglianico. The 82 acre SHR Vineyard is planted, yielding its first vintage in It lies across the southern edge of the property. 1997 1999 Early-2000s 2011 2017 Today The Burke Vineyard is purchased. Phase 1 planting occurred in 1998 (225 acres). First vintage of Deaver Zinfandel was bottled. Jeff Meyers transitions to General Manager. Trinchero family builds a state of the art winery (700 tons of fermenting capacity, 6,000 temperature and humidified barrel capacity, small bin fermenters, cross flow filter, Delta E-6 crusher, tile floor) TFE purchases the Veauta Ranch, 80 total acres with 10 acres of Viognier. Emily Haines joins the Terra d’Oro team as head winemaker and is focused on delivering terroir-driven, elegant wines. Owning close to 800 acres of vines, Terra d’Oro crafts awarding winning wines focusing on Italian varietals that perfectly capturing the essence of this “Land of Gold.”
