2.4 Creating and Solving Inequalities
2
Solving inequalities is like solving equations… just remember to reverse the inequality sign when multiplying or dividing by a negative number.
3
Solve and graph. -7x + 2 > -5
4
Solve and graph. 6x + 21 < 9x + 6
5
Ready for a challenge? 8x – 4 > 4(2x – 1)
6
What about…. -2x + 9 < -2(x – 3)
7
Solve and justify your steps to solve -3(x - 4) < 6.
Inequality Explanation Mathematical Reason -3(x – 4) < 6 Write original equation Given
8
Write an inequality and solve.
You can work at most 24 hours per week as a nurse’s aid. So far this week you have worked 7 hours. If the remaining shifts for the week are each 4 hours long, how many possible full shifts can you work?
9
Write an inequality and solve.
