Mistakes – even when you have experience. B. Nervousness – if doubly prepared, then you will be less nervous C. Work – if you expect to improve…

3 Men's Training Class III. PREPARING LESSONS A. Three Kinds Of Lessons:
1. Topical Lesson – Prayer, Plan of Salvation, Hope, etc. 2. Textual Lesson – John 8:32, Matt. 5:48, etc. 3. Expository Lesson – Not just one passages or text, but a paragraph or more. For example, “The Veil” (1 Cor. 11:2-16). All these can be hard or easy depending on the topic / passages you choose to use.

B. What Should I Speak About? 1. NEVER teach your doubts – If you are not sure, then let it cook a bit more (Rom. 14; 2 Tim. 1:13; 2:15)! 2. Start with what you know - make a list.

2. Evidences for the Bible. 3. Authority. 4. The Bible. 5. Jesus – His Person, Character, Mission. 6. Identity of the church. 7. Unity. 8. History of the church (Apostasy foretold, the historical facts of it, restoration, liberal digression).

9. Issues that divide brethren: War, One- Cup, Role of Women, Veil… 10. Moral issues: Dancing, Drinking, Smoking, Gambling, Gossip, Murmuring, Euthanasia, Abortion, Anger, Modesty… 11. Family. 12. Personal evangelism, etc. 13. Bible character (Paul, Peter, Joshua, David…)

14. Bible lists (Gal. 5:19-21, 22-23; Eph. 4:4-7; 2 Peter 1:5-7; etc.). 15. Parable(s). 16. Final Things (Hade, Heaven, Hell, Judgment). 17. The Godhead. 18. Difference between O.T. & N.T. 19. Review a false doctrine / church. 20. Etc.

1. Gather info, make a list of passages & note possible points. 2. Pick 2-4 points that are clear. Make these your main points. 3. Use one main illustration and a few related verses to “flesh out” your points. 4. Make practical application!

1. Bring Them! 2. Try not to read them verbatim. B. Introduction: Draw attention to the lesson. Gather people’s eyes and thoughts. 1. Do not distract (jingle keys, etc). 2. Engage the whole audience (eye contact, movement).
