The Digestive System Tutorial The digestive system is a complex system that functions to ingest & break down food, absorb nutrients, and excrete waste products. This tutorial will provide an opportunity to study the anatomy of the digestive system on the models from the A&P laboratory. Created by Wendy Rappazzo from HCC Foundation Grant
3
Digestive Organs Tutorial The digestive system consists of two types of organs. Organs that form a tube in which the food passes through to be processed (this tube is termed the alimentary canal), and organs that food does not pass through but are essential for the functioning of this system. These organs are termed accessory organs. Created by Wendy Rappazzo from HCC Foundation Grant

Digestive Organs Tutorial The organs of the alimentary canal are the: mouth, oropharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine. Accessory organs include: teeth, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Created by Wendy Rappazzo from HCC Foundation Grant
5
Digestive Organs Tutorial You are responsible for correctly indentifying numerous structures of the digestive system. Click here to view the list of structures.here The next slide will give you a list of laboratory models you can study. Choose (by clicking on) the one you would like to study and move your mouse over the structure to identify it. Created by Wendy Rappazzo from HCC Foundation Grant
