Which of these statements defines a refugee?
Someone who has been forced to leave their home but has found safety in another part of their own country. Someone who is outside their own country and unable to return, in fear of death, imprisonment or harassment because of their race, religion, nationality, social group or political opinions. Someone who has fled their own country and crossed an international border, asking another country to give them protection. Someone who leaves their own country to earn money or seek work in another country.

You are a refugee – How do you feel?
In groups, using chart paper, draw a stick person in the middle. Surround that person with words to describe how you might feel if you had to flee from your home. Enclose these words in a circle. Outside the circle, write words to describe how you might feel if you arrived in a country that met all of your needs (security, housing, food, citizenship, education, work, etc.) perfectly.
