3 LES Asia Pacific Societies
ANZ, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Singapore are represented in this Meeting. All AP Societies have submitted society report and fact sheet 3

4 Special highlights LES ANZ – media exposure achieved; regularly being quoted and sought for comment on IP topics in the general media. The Australian (a national newspaper) on 1 Oct regarding proposed legislative changes to the Patents Act “Not surprisingly, Carr's bill is backed by industry, including umbrella group the Licensing Executives Society of Australia and New Zealand.” Releases are all linked on LESANZ’s website 

5 Special highlights LES Korea
“Presidential Council on IP” – presidential advisory body established by Korea government in July, chaired by Prime Minister – to develop national strategy on IP – Kyeong–Ran Lee (VP) and a LESK member appointed as non-governmental committee members; President Jeong-Joong KIM and secretary-general Won-Hee CHO appointed ad hoc committee members. Licensing Clinic – monthly breakfast meeting starting on 23 Nov 2011 – to counsel and provide hands-on solution to corporate people working on IP area. Survey conducted on issues to consider and relevant experienced professionals selected to attend. Four CLPs grandfathered.

8 Topics of interest Medical/ healthcare related LES Chinese Taipei - International Licensing Workshop: An Introduction: Medical Device Practice, Medical Method and Patent Eligibility - 4 Aug LES Philippines’ participation in the 5th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week, Aug LES India – 6-8 Jul - 3 day conference on "Intellectual Property Rights – The Confluence of Technology, Business & Law" with special focus on Healthcare and Sustainable Technologies at Bangalore. Note: structured like academic conference - submissions invited from professionals. First time such format adopted for IP conference in India.

18 AGM LES China – 2011 Annual Meeting in Yunnan Province, 7 – 11 Sept, seven speakers from The Supreme Court, Ministry of Commerce, State Intellectual Property Bureau, Haier Corporation, SAIC Motor group, ZTE Corporation and CCPIT. 18

21 Membership No significant change in membership size in most AP societies Increase in Singapore (+25% from June 2011; from 52 to 65); Japan (+6 members from previous year; from 645 to 651); Philippines (+ 10 from previous year; from 86 to 96 but 10 members who failed to pay consistently the dues are delisted); Hong Kong (+2 from June) . 21

37 members continuing its Workplan for its initial 3-year mandate, one working group for each of the 5 types of IP agreements. group on LinkedIn and a subgroup for each Working Group. Chair Lynda Covello conducts committee meeting by tele-conferencing
