11 Following World War II, the huge shortage of housing in London was met by large scale developments like this award winning housing Estate off Loughborough Road, with mixed density high and low-rise blocks of flats. The surrounding area had suffered considerable bomb damage during the war, but pockets of Victorian terraces and semi detached residences are still to be seen nestling amongst the many new housing estates that have sprung up in the area.
