End of half or game offensive concept.
Mayday End of half or game offensive concept.
2
Base Concepts This is a single formation, used at the end of the half or game, and uses 2 base passes and 1 run Single base formation Play is called from the sideline or by the QB as an audible Or, QB can call the play at the LOS based on what he sees and what the defense is doing (If the QB can handle that responsibility) Backs and TE are always in the same alignment X & Z get to the closest position at the end of the play, they do not have to align X to the left, Z to the right The Y (TE) will not be going out on a pass so he can be covered by the X if he lines up there Looking for best 1:1 pairing Plays are the same to each side – the receiver is 1:1 and the route will vary based on alignment and first few steps This is a QB-intensive operation The base plays are a variable route to each side, an out route (3) that is to kill the clock, and a run up the middle with the 3-back
3
Operation Once the Mayday call is made, the players line up in the formation The OL and backs get set in their stances immediately, they will receive their instructions from the QB at the LOS The QB/Coach makes the play call based on the defensive alignment The players perform the play The snap is always on the first sound following the ‘Set’ call If the pass is completed or the run is made, the player hands the ball to the referee and hurries back to his position When the play is over the players rush back to the LOS and get in position The X & Z are the only players that change positions, the other players will always align in the same positions The X & Z align out wide, but no further than the base of the numbers Keep repeating this process until the objective is met
