Affirmative FORM REGULAR VERBS: Subject + Verb -ed…
Last week I played a football match. Yesterday I listened to music. IRREGULAR VERBS: Subject + Verb (2nd column) We went skateboarding last weekend. I broke my arm.

Spelling rules Most verbs: add –ED: listen listened
Verbs ending in –E, add –D: live lived Verbs ending in CONSONANT+Y: change Y to I and add –ED: worry worried Verbs ending in CONSONANT + VOWEL + CONSONANT: double the last consonant and add -ED: stop stopped.

Past simple Negative Subject + didn’t + Verb (infinitive)… did not
Regular verb: I didn’t play a football match yesterday. Irregular verb: She didn’t go to Barcelona last weekend.

Did + Subject + Verb (infinitive)…? Regular verb: Did you play a football match yesterday? - Yes, I did. - No, I didn’t. Irregular verb: Did she go to Barcelona last weekend? - Yes, she did. - No, she didn’t.
