3 CVS’ – local infrastructure support organisations – on the GM VCSE Reference Group. Agreed democratically by GM CVS Chiefs.
Purpose – membership organisations with good reach into VCSE sector in our localities (GM boroughs) – in our case the City of Salford. Act as a conduit. Already play a strategic role.
Asked today to focus on what’s happening in Salford regarding our Locality Plan. What its key messages are – and specifically in relation to the VCSE sector.
Good sector involvement in the Locality Plan in Salford:

HW engagement
Able to comment on each draft and influence what’s included.
Ultimately not really about what’s on the page, of course; about our ability to influence delivery of these plans in the longer term…

“We will continue to strengthen and build on the strong partnerships that exist across Salford between the VCSE sector, the Council, the Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS providers and other statutory partners over the next five years through our collective and joint commitment to:
An Inclusive Approach: including all partners in decision-making at the early stages of strategic planning and the development of new models of service delivery.
Development of Alliances: within and across sectors, thematic, as well as population and place-based, dependent on the issues presented and the solutions required.
Recognition of Community and Individual Assets: Individuals’ and communities assets are vital to improving Salford resident’s health outcomes.”

Better Care – Our better care journey includes moving beyond current arrangements on a trajectory towards integration of commissioning and provision. The work includes:

Living Well - Citizens will achieve and maintain a sense of wellbeing by leading a healthy lifestyle supported by resilient communities
Ageing Well – Older people will maintain wellbeing and can access high quality health and care, using it appropriately
N.B. The Marmot review: Fair society healthy lives: strategic review of health inequalities in England (2010) has strongly influenced the development of the Salford Locality Plan.
