2. What is Cades Cove?
Cades Cove is a cove forest, which is a valley shaped like a bowl, with the lowest elevation in the middle.
How was it formed?
It was created when a thrust fault caused land to push towards one another. Over time the mountain eroded away and created the valley.
Planning a Visit?
Cades Cove is a great place to stop a have a picnic! Bring a blanket a picnic basket full of your favorite organic snacks and enjoy it in any of the designated picnic areas around the cove.
Don’t forget your binoculars and a camera! There is plenty of wildlife to see here!

You might see a black bear in Cades Cove! There are a variety of berries available for the bears to eat, making this a favorite spot!
