Fig. 1 Diagram of bursting pressure measuring device. Tissue specimen is placed between acrylic plates, open on one side and connected on the other to the pressurizing system. The cross-sectional view illustrates the placement of the flattened vein specimen between the plates. The inner surface of the vein overlies the well that is pressurized directly from the syringe. The pressure required to cause outward rupture of the vein is recorded.
