Process Analysis Leah, Kenna , Katiana, Kyle, Vince period 3 Shutt: Think about the length of the text on your slides - too much text can overwhelm students. What you want to SAY during your presentation does not need to be what you WRITE on the slide. A good presenter always says more than what is on the slide. Lastly, try to differentiate what you will focus on in your presentation compared to what students will have access to on the class website afterwards (the presentation will be available for them to take notes. You can have a 12 slide presentation but really only go over 6 of those slides class. In class, give them the basics that they need to understand the overview of the topic. The slides you don’t go over in class can then fill in the gaps and details for them later when they are taking notes on their own time.

A method of paragraph or essay development by which a writer explains step by step how something is done or how to do something Steps are explained from first to last (Chronological Order) Has two specific forms, Informative and Directive Informative : supply information about how something works Directive : explain how to do something

3 What is the purpose of Process Analysis ?
Can be utilized to improve the reader’s understanding of how to do or make something By the end of the essay, the reader should be able to accomplish the process themselves or comprehend how the process works This process is made into clear definitive steps Effective process analysis plays a critical role in developing the social skill of communication

4 How does Process Analysis control our writing? Tools?
The goal of Process Analysis is to teach the reader how to do something A controlled idea reflects the writer’s opinion; your opinion is the steps you lay out for the reader (Be careful how you display your point of view)

5 How to apply it to our essays
Don't use “I”, “me”,or “my” Be more creative in transitioning to oncoming steps/instruction In your essay, answer any possible questions your reader may have >Remember who the intended readers are going to be.

6 Key steps to include in your essay
Intro Thesis Topic Your position on the argument What the result should be The benefits/pros to the method Body paragraphs: Include multiple steps Arrange the steps into separate paragraphs Provide evidence to support Define important terms

7 Continued key steps Conclusion: Restate thesis in new words
Mention the purpose again Summarize and include important steps How it applies to your life Indicate whether it supposed to be recreated or not

8 Tips & Tricks Create an outline, and write out each step in chronological order. (Add the details once the outline is complete) Create a list of items you might need on creating your project. List out hazards that might occur during the project. Make sure to define some of the terms that relate to the topic. At the end, explain what the end result of your product should look like.
