Ps 94, 9 “He who planted the ear, does he not hear?”
“The first service that one owes to others in the fellowship consists in listening to them. Just as love to God begins with listening to His Word, so the beginning of love for the brethren is learning to listen to them. It is God’s love for us that He not only gives us His Word but also lends us His ear. So it is His work that we do for our brother when we learn to listen to him. Christians, especially ministers, so often think they must always contribute something when they are in the company of others, that this is the one service they have to render. They forget that listening can be a greater service than speaking”. Ps 94, 9 “He who planted the ear, does he not hear?”

Jer 23,29 ”Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and l like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”

3. The risen Jesus’ words kindle a fire in us (b) In the parable of the sower (Mark 4,19) Jesus mentions three tranquilizers: “And… the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things …enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful”

3. The risen Jesus’ words kindle a fire in us (c) Isaiah 40, 21ff „21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? … 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
