Fig 1 Ultrasound imaging of the patient’s lung. It shows an area of consolidation (defined by an area of hypoechoic hepatizated tissue) involving the whole left lower lobe, with minimal pleural effusion, with an estimated volume <100 ml, and no pneumothorax. Within the consolidation, hyperechoic punctiform areas can be seen and were interpreted as air bronchograms.
