Conjugation How many mistakes are there in this conversation?
‘Hi Paul.’ ‘Hi Lucy. How are you?’ ‘I’m fine. How am you?’ ‘I’m great. What is we doing today?’ ‘Let’s go to John’s house.’ ‘John? Who are John?’ ‘John is my friend. He live near my house and he going to my school. He are being my best friend. He play football and like tennis too.’

Conjugation When we speak English, we change verbs all the time: e.g. I listen, you listen, they listened This changing of verbs is called conjugation Conjugation is changing the spelling/form of the verb depending on the person and the tense.

Conjugation We need to conjugate verbs in French too.
Luckily there is a step-by-step process for this. Verbs in Spanish come in three groups: -er, -ir and –re. Today we will focus on -er verbs Why do we call them ar verbs? étudier écouter parler bavarder réviser aimer

Conjugation: an example
Let’s use parler as an example Step Example Notes Start with the infinitive parler to talk The infinitive is the ‘to do’ form of the verb found in the dictionary Take off the ending parl talk The ending is always the last two letters Put something back parle I talk The ending depends on the person and the tense

Conjugation: putting something back on
For –er verbs we use the following endings: Person Ending Example I -e parle You -es parles He/she/it -e We -ons parlons You pl. -ez parlez They -ent parlent
